Dajabón.- A violent confrontation broke out in the Benito Monción neighborhood of Dajabón when Army soldiers attempted to confiscate a shipment of contraband cigarettes. The operation was disrupted by civilians who hurled stones at the troops to prevent the full seizure.
The clash escalated into a shootout, causing panic among residents who took cover in their homes. It remains unclear if there were any injuries among civilians or military personnel.
According to local reports, soldiers were initially tracking a vehicle carrying the illegal goods, and additional troops were deployed to support the operation. Despite the resistance, the Army managed to confiscate part of the shipment before retreating due to the intensity of the stone-throwing.
