Bar Association backs enhanced firearm controls for safer venues

Santo Domingo.- The Association of Bars and Gastrobars of the Colonial Zone (Asocolc) expressed support for the Ministry of the Interior and Police’s recent measures to strengthen inspections preventing firearms in bars, nightclubs, and other entertainment venues.

Grace Heyaime, president of Asocolc, emphasized that members have always complied with these regulations and view the reinforcement as a positive step for both public safety and the security of their establishments. She noted that the gun ban is crucial for protecting visitors and ensuring safer entertainment experiences.

Heyaime added that many establishments already display signs prohibiting firearms and knives, similar to regulations on alcohol sales to minors. She concluded that initiatives like this, promoted by Minister Faride Raful, contribute to citizen well-being and the proper operation of entertainment venues.
