Phase IV left-turn restrictions begin on JFK and 27 de Febrero Avenues
Santo Domingo.- The Transportation Cabinet announced that Phase IV of the left-turn restriction program under the “RD Se Mueve” traffic management strategy will begin this Sunday. The initiative aims to optimize traffic flow, reduce congestion, and enhance road safety in the main corridors of the National District.
Previous phases reorganized traffic at 13 key intersections on avenues such as Lope de Vega, Tiradentes, Abraham Lincoln, Winston Churchill, and Máximo Gómez, improving travel times by over 30%. Phase IV will focus on the John F. Kennedy and 27 de Febrero Avenue corridors, starting with the Máximo Gómez – John F. Kennedy intersection, which will be streamlined from four to three operational phases. Left turns at this junction will be restricted, with alternative routes provided via San Martín Avenue, Paseo de los Aviadores, Paseo de los Ferreteros, and Mayor Valverde Street to maintain traffic flow.
Following a two-week awareness period, inspections are now underway at key intersections to enforce compliance. Routes and updates are available on traffic platforms such as WAZE. Authorities emphasized that these measures are being implemented gradually to improve mobility, ensure road safety, and help drivers adapt smoothly.
