Capotillo: new gear and training to boost safety and community
Santo Domingo.- Interior and Police Minister Faride Raful and National Police Director Major General Ramón Antonio Guzmán Peralta led the handover of modern equipment to strengthen security and community coexistence in Capotillo.
The initiative is a partnership between the National Police’s Central Directorate of Planning and Development (DIPLAN), Philip Morris Dominicana and the Instituto Dominicano de Desarrollo Integral (IDDI). It includes vests with integrated cameras, helmets and other technological resources, alongside specialized training, dialogue tables and a strategic action plan.
“This is not a project in Capotillo, it is for Capotillo, for its people, its families and its businesses,” Guzmán Peralta said. He noted that hundreds of officers have already received training to improve policing and civic engagement.
During the event, officials toured the Capotillo police station and met with local personnel and community leaders. Philip Morris Dominicana was represented by Leticia De Andrés, while IDDI delegates included Arcadia Francisco and Luis A. Javier.
Organizers described the effort as a model for a more human, community-centered approach to public safety.
