Haitian ex-mayor Rosemila Petit-Frére detained in Puerto Plata
Santo Domingo.- The General Directorate of Migration (DGM) announced the detention of former Haitian official and businesswoman Rosemila Petit-Frére, who faces international accusations related to illicit activities in Haiti. Petit-Frére, former mayor of Arcahaie and owner of Téle Monopole, was intercepted upon arriving at Gregorio Luperón International Airport from Canada.
Authorities reported that the arrest was based on intelligence suggesting she was carrying a large sum of cash. While no money was found during the inspection, several checks for different amounts were seized. She was transferred to Santo Domingo for questioning and to coordinate her potential handover to Haitian authorities.
