Paris.- Dominican sprinter Marileidy Paulino delivered an outstanding performance in each of her preliminary races at Paris 2024, culminating tonight in her victory as the new queen of the 400m sprint. Paulino won the event from start to finish, setting a new Olympic record with a time of 48.17 seconds.

This achievement breaks the previous Olympic record of 48.25 seconds, set by Marie-Jose Perec (FRA) at the Atlanta 1996 Games.

Paulino, the Dominican Republic’s flag bearer, celebrated her triumph with a radiant smile, proudly draped in her national flag and embracing her coach.

Eid Naser secured the silver medal with a time of 48.53 seconds, while Poland’s Natalia Kaczmarek took bronze.
