President Abinader bids farewell to Dominican baseball team for Premier 12 Tournament
Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader welcomed the Dominican baseball team representing the nation in the Premier 12 tournament, set to take place in Chinese Taipei, Mexico, and Japan from November 9 to 24. The ceremony, held in the Ambassadors Hall of the National Palace, included the presentation of a team jersey to President Abinader, who expressed his support and wished the team success. Sports Minister Kelvin Cruz also attended the event. The team departs for Chinese Taipei on November 6.
The Dominican Republic is in Group B, with games scheduled from November 13 to 18 in Chinese Taipei and Japan. This international tournament, held every four years and organized by the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC), features the top 12 national teams based on end-of-2023 rankings. The Super Round and final will follow the group stage.
The Dominican team includes players like Willy Peralta, Joely Rodríguez, and Diego Castillo, along with coaches and staff such as Ervin Santana, Ramón Martínez, and Ronny Paulino. The team is set to compete against countries including Japan, the U.S., Korea, Venezuela, and Puerto Rico.
