Robinson Canó joins Leones del Escogido for Caribbean Series
Santo Domingo.- Veteran baseball star Robinson Canó will reinforce the Leones del Escogido this Friday as they represent the Dominican Republic in the Caribbean Series, which kicks off today, January 31, in Mexico.
Canó, a key figure in previous tournaments, has played in the last four editions of the Caribbean Series, posting strong performances, including a .417 batting average in 2020 and a .333/.500/.333 offensive line in 2024. His leadership and experience will be crucial in the team’s quest for the championship.
Coming off an outstanding 2024 season, where he was batting champion, MVP, and league champion with the Diablos Rojos del México in the Mexican Baseball League (LMB), Canó arrives at a pivotal moment for Escogido. The Caribbean Series will feature teams from the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, and Japan, which is making its debut as a guest participant.
