Dominican Olympic Committee confirms 20-year suspension of shooting federation

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Olympic Committee (COD) has officially ratified the 20-year suspension of the Dominican Shooting Federation (Fedoti) during its Ordinary General Assembly. The decision, initially made on October 12, 2023, was supported by 20 federations and nine executive committee members, while 14 voted against and four abstained.
Fedoti, led by Manuel de Jesús Figuereo Feliz, is among four federations suspended due to alleged irregularities, alongside Modern Pentathlon, Surfing, and Fencing. These entities have filed a RD$500 million lawsuit against the COD. While the Fencing Federation was close to reinstatement, its electoral assembly suspension halted the process. Surfing remains sanctioned by national sports authorities, and Modern Pentathlon faces international penalties.
During the assembly, COD President Garibaldy Bautista read a letter from the Pan American Shooting Federation announcing plans to disaffiliate from Fedoti. The COD now awaits an official statement from international Surfing authorities to proceed with further actions.
