Dominican gymnast Mia Lugo shines with triple medal performance in El Salvador
Santo Domingo.- Dominican gymnast Mia Lugo, representing the Naco Sports Club and the Dominican Gymnastics Federation’s Elite Project, delivered an impressive performance at the 2025 Pan American Children’s and Youth Artistic Gymnastics Cup held from November 4 to 6 in El Salvador. The 14-year-old won three bronze medals in the vault, uneven bars, and floor routine events while competing in the FIG Junior category, showcasing strong technique and growing international potential.
The tournament featured athletes from 12 countries, including Venezuela, Colombia, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Panama, Nicaragua, Trinidad & Tobago, the Cayman Islands, El Salvador, and the Dominican Republic. Her coach, Yoandris Tamayo, praised Lugo’s discipline and steady development, noting her recent standout performance at the Junior Pan American Games in Asunción, Paraguay.
A student at Serafín de Asís School, Lugo began training at the Naco Sports Club at age seven, where her talent quickly became evident. Her latest achievements reinforce the progress of Dominican artistic gymnastics and highlight her status as one of the country’s most promising young athletes.
