Samaná to welcome up to 400,000 tourists annually, says Asonahores
Samaná.- Samaná is on track to become a top-tier Caribbean destination, with expectations to attract between 300,000 and 400,000 tourists annually once its cruise ports in Santa Bárbara and Arroyo Barril are fully operational. This projection was shared by Juan Bancalari, president of ASONAHORES, during the inauguration of the new boardwalk in Santa Bárbara de Samaná.
Bancalari emphasized the significant economic benefits this influx of visitors will bring to the local population, encouraging residents to prepare for the upcoming tourism-driven growth. He also highlighted Samaná’s readiness to welcome international cruise passengers thanks to recent infrastructure improvements.
Key developments enhancing the region’s appeal include the new boardwalk, the Limón Highway, and the Las Terrenas Aqueduct. These projects are part of a broader strategy to establish Samaná as a sustainable and competitive global tourist destination, with a call for the public to preserve and support this transformation.
