Interior Minister to sign surveillance agreement with Total Energies

Santo Domingo.- Interior and Police Minister Jesús Vásquez Martínez announced an upcoming agreement with Total Energies to access external video cameras, enhancing community surveillance. He made this announcement during a meeting of the Citizen Security and Gender Roundtable in Santo Domingo Oeste. Additionally, Vásquez Martínez stated that a similar request has been made to the Federation of Merchants to connect their business cameras, providing more tools for crime prevention and prosecution.

During the meeting, Vásquez Martínez committed to improving citizen security in the municipality, listening to the concerns of various sectors. He emphasized, “This is a problem that we can only solve through education and community leadership. Each one of us can do much more than what we are doing, to build a culture of peace.”

Vice Minister of Preventive Security in Provincial Governments, Ángela Jáquez, highlighted the need for collective awareness to prioritize citizen security. She urged community members to work together, stressing that no country can progress without ensuring security.

“No one can do it alone; citizen security is not a matter of superheroes, it is an alliance. The entire government and business sector, together with society, must be united in one direction,” Jáquez emphasized.
