Cuba rejects “external interference” in Haiti crisis

Museum of the Revolution

Havana – Yesterday, the Cuban government rejected “external interference” in Haiti after the announcement of the resignation of its prime minister, Ariel Henry. It advocated offering “assistance and cooperation” to the Caribbean country in crisis.

The Cuban Foreign Ministry stated, “Haiti needs real and sufficient assistance and cooperation for its reconstruction and progress, without external interferences that have not been the solution but the cause of its problems.”

Foreign Affairs also stressed that in its contacts with “regional actors” about the situation in Haiti, it has reiterated its opinion that the country must seek a sovereign solution with international support.

The statement added, “The Haitian people have the right to find a peaceful, sustainable and lasting solution to the challenges they face, based on full respect for their self-determination, sovereignty and independence.”

Haiti, with areas under a state of emergency and curfew, has been plunged for weeks into growing instability and immersed in a wave of violence.

Agree 100% Dave Lopes. Cuban docs are the best and they train others all over the world. It’s amazing how resilient a people the Cubans have been to far exceed what I’ve experienced in other countries called healthcare. I’ll always choose a Cuban doc if I can
