Dominican Consulate in Rio de Janeiro begins on-site passport processing
Rio de Janeiro.- For the first time, the Consulate General of the Dominican Republic in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, will process and print Dominican passports directly at its headquarters. This advancement in consular services aims to streamline procedures for the Dominican diaspora.
Consul General Roberto Rubio Cunillera highlighted that this achievement results from a coordinated effort between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MIREX), the General Directorate of Passports (DGP), and the consulate. A team of DGP technicians successfully installed and tested the data capture and document printing system, ensuring efficient passport issuance for Dominicans in Brazil.
With this new service, Dominicans no longer need to travel to the Dominican Republic for passport renewals. Standard processing will take seven days, while VIP applications can be completed in as little as three hours. The consul expressed gratitude to the officials and institutions involved in making this initiative possible, reinforcing the commitment to serving the Dominican community abroad.
