Washington.- Dominican Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez called on the international community to intensify efforts to address Haiti’s ongoing crisis. Speaking at the Organization of American States (OAS), he emphasized the need for greater support to help Haiti achieve social, economic, and political stability.
Álvarez highlighted the Dominican government’s designation of Haitian criminal gangs as terrorists, reinforcing its commitment to regional security. He also congratulated Albert Ramdin on his election as OAS Secretary General, noting it as a historic moment for Caribbean leadership.
Reflecting on global shifts and technological advancements, Álvarez stressed the need for a renewed vision for the OAS. He acknowledged outgoing Secretary Luis Almagro’s contributions to democracy, human rights, and hemispheric security in recent years.
