Top official rails the high court on stalled extradition

Santo Domingo.- The Presidency’s Antinarcotics Adviser yesterday said the Supreme Court’s justices should be “ashamed” for the way they are handling “very serious” cases, including some with international implications.

Marino Vinicio (Vincho) Castillo said while justice in other countries, such as Puerto Rico, where Angel Ayala Vázquez (Ángelo Millones), one of the heads of the local cartel was sent to life in prison, here in Dominican Republic, the high Court is guessing what to do with some extraditions, including Ramon del Rosario Puente, (Toño Leña), which has been postponed nine times.

The official, in his program “La Respuesta” on Digital 15, referred to the case of del Rosario, allegedly one of Ayala’s drug suppliers, and which the authorities link to at least two murders.

The Supreme Court’s postponements have begun raising eyebrows in wide sectors of the country, especially after the justices ruled to not extradite the fugitive Winston Rizik Rodriguez to the U.S. to face narcotics charges.
