MICM achieves five ISO Certifications for excellence in management

Santo Domingo.- The Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and MSMEs (MICM) has achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first state institution to acquire five certifications in accordance with ISO standards.

These certifications include ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System, ensuring efficient processes to deliver high-quality services and enhance citizen satisfaction; ISO 1401:2015 Environmental Management System, guaranteeing environmentally responsible operations; ISO 37001:2016 Anti-Bribery Management System, promoting ethical and transparent governance; ISO 23001:2019 Compliance Management System, ensuring adherence to applicable laws and regulations; and ISO 37301:2021 Business Continuity Management System, ensuring the uninterrupted provision of essential services to citizens.

Minister Víctor Bisonó highlighted that in 2023, MICM received the Grand National Quality Award and the Gold Medal for Best Practices in Sustainable Development Goals from the Ibero-American Foundation for Quality Management. He aims to apply for the Ibero-American Quality Award for Excellence in Management 2024, reflecting national-level performance.

These achievements validate the dedication and commitment of each collaborator towards excellence. Christopher de la Cruz, Director of Management Control, emphasized the tangible impact of the Integrated Management System certification, including 1,050 hours of external consulting, 171 hours of training, 1,502 employees impacted, and the certification of 57 new lead auditors.

These statistics underscore the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening excellence in management. The certifications were presented at the MICM headquarters by Ricardo Jiménez, International Commercial Manager of the Colombian Institute of Technical Standards and Certification (ICONTEC), among others.
