Defense Minister confirms secure and well-guarded border with Haiti

Santo Domingo.- Defense Minister Carlos Díaz Morfa stated that the border with Haiti is “calm and properly guarded.” This assurance came after completing a three-day tour on Saturday to inspect each military unit deployed in the region and assess their operational readiness.

Díaz Morfa explained that the Dominican Air Force patrols the final points of the border, supplemented by constant drone surveillance from the Intelligence Directorate (J-2). This aerial support reinforces the ground troops, especially in areas where commercial activities between the two nations occur.

He also noted that the Navy has units stationed on both the southern and northern coasts, equipped with boats and speedboats. These units are essential for interdicting illegal activities, such as drug trafficking and smuggling, and intercepting attempts at irregular migration.

“Dominican society can be assured that the Armed Forces of the Dominican Republic, stationed in the border region with Haiti, are fulfilling the mission of defending national interests as entrusted by our authorities, maintaining security in these remote areas and communities on national soil,” Díaz Morfa emphasized.

The Defense Minister, Carlos Díaz Morfa is looking at the border with rose-coloured glasses.

¿How can the border be secure and well-guarded when illegals continue to cross into the RD?

Eradicate the business of the border mafias and the border will be secure and well-guarded.

I just saw a video today of at least 400 to 500 Haitians running across the border into the Dominican Republic. I personally think that Abinader can’t control the army and the generals can’t control its soldiers. This is a mafia state.
