Israeli Embassy commemorates 76th Independence Day

Santo Domingo.- The Israeli Embassy in the Dominican Republic commemorated the 76th anniversary of Israel’s independence with a reception centered on “Israeli heroism.”

Ambassador Raslan Abu Rukun and Deputy Consul and Head of Mission Ilan Vulej hosted the event at the El Embajador Hotel. The Embassy showcased an exhibition telling the stories of seven individuals who risked their lives to rescue others during the Hamas attacks on October 7, 2023.

In his speech, the ambassador reflected on the recent challenges faced by the Jewish people and extended solidarity to the families of the fallen and the 120 people still held hostage in Gaza. He also expressed a hope for the return of harmony to the nation.

“Let us pray for the end of the war and promote the strategy of peace, cooperation, and stability. Let us promote the fight against radical ideas everywhere. Let us promote the acceptance of others regardless of their origin,” the diplomat said.

Ambassador Abu Rukun also emphasized the strong friendship between the Dominican Republic and Israel, highlighting their cooperation in education, agriculture, cybersecurity, and other areas. “Let us work together to further enhance cooperation in the future,” said the ambassador, who began his diplomatic mission in August 2023.
