Abinader inaugurates first stage of Sierra Prieta Tactical Training Center

Sierra Prieta.- President Luis Abinader Corona and Defense Minister Lieutenant General Carlos Luciano Díaz Morfa inaugurated the first stage of the Sierra Prieta Tactical Training Center in Yamasá. This state-of-the-art military facility is designed for the advanced training of special forces units in complex and high-risk missions.

The new center features a helipad, obstacle course, rifle and pistol shooting ranges, classrooms, rest and recreation areas, a rappelling tower, a clearing room, dining facilities, ceremony booths, and meeting rooms. The center is equipped with modern facilities and adheres to international safety protocols and certification requirements. It serves as both a training ground and a recreational facility for physical conditioning and high-level entertainment.

The inauguration event was attended by Brigadier General Carlos Gorbea, Commanding General of the 1st Mission Support Command (U.S. Army), Lieutenant Colonel Lowell D. Krusinger, U.S. Military Attaché, and representatives from the U.S. Southern Command.

The land for the Sierra Prieta Tactical Training Center was secured by the current administration, transforming it into a vital military asset. Since 2023, the center has hosted national and international competitions, including the “Fuerzas Comando 2023,” the “Special Forces of the Armed Forces” competition, and various airgun and non-lethal weapons tournaments.
