Santo Domingo.- The Consular Corps Board of Directors, led by Honorary Consul of Malaysia Fernando González Nicolás, celebrated the inauguration of its new headquarters in the Colonial City. The event was attended by Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez and Minister of the Presidency Joel Santos.

In his keynote speech, González Nicolás emphasized that this is the first time since the Consular Corps was established in 1952 that it has its own dedicated office. He noted that the new headquarters will provide a venue for consular, academic, cultural, and social activities.

González Nicolás also highlighted a historical coincidence: the location of the new headquarters was once home to the embassies of countries accredited to the Dominican Republic in the 1800s.

He expressed the current board’s commitment to further strengthening the Consular Corps to enhance collaboration with consuls and improve bilateral relations between the Dominican Republic and other nations.
