Bodies of missing technicians found after implosion at Casa Brugal Distillery
San Pedro de Macorís.- The bodies of two technicians from a contractor company for Casa Brugal Distillery, who went missing following an implosion of a vinasse storage tank, have been recovered. The deceased, identified as Ricardo Tolentino Zorrilla and Mario Esteban Franco, lost their lives while performing maintenance work on the tank.
Both technicians were employed by the Juan José Brito Construction Company, which was contracted for the repair of the vinasse tank. Casa Brugal released a statement confirming that authorities are currently working on recovering and formally identifying the bodies.
In the statement, Casa Brugal expressed its heartfelt condolences to the families of Ricardo and Mario, assuring them of ongoing support and communication during this difficult time. The company also extended its gratitude to the rescue teams who tirelessly searched for the missing technicians since the incident occurred.
Casa Brugal promised to provide updates as more information becomes available regarding the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
The vinasse is a byproduct of distillation. It does contain solid masses, alcohol, and methane. It could be suspect the methane may have been the cause of the tragedy.
