U.S. Embassy urges citizens to respect Dominican laws while visiting

Santo Domingo.- The U.S. Embassy in the Dominican Republic issued a safety warning to American citizens, urging them to exercise caution when participating in extreme sports or consuming alcohol, particularly in resort areas. The embassy highlighted the risks associated with off-road vehicles and excessive drinking, which are common among adventurous tourists.

Additionally, the embassy reminded travelers that possession of controlled substances, even if legal in other countries, can result in serious legal consequences in the Dominican Republic. The warning, issued on March 3, two days before the disappearance of Sudiksha Konanki, emphasized the importance of respecting local laws and prioritizing safety during travel.

The embassy’s message serves as a reminder for tourists to stay informed and make responsible decisions while enjoying their stay in the Dominican Republic.
