Dominican students win third place at Global Huawei ICT Competition

Shenzhen, China.- A team of three students from the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM) earned third place globally in the prestigious Huawei ICT Global Competition 2024–2025, one of the top international contests in information and communications technology.

Representing the Dominican Republic, Kamila Acevedo, Marco Reyes, and Yira Tavárez, accompanied by their mentor, Professor Jesús Mejía, competed in the Cloud Track practical category, showcasing their technical expertise in cloud computing. They placed behind teams from Brazil and China.

The competition, organized by Huawei since 2015, challenges students worldwide through a series of theoretical and practical rounds. The Dominican team advanced through national, regional, and global stages, using Huawei’s training platform and resources to secure their impressive global ranking.
