CES launches thematic roundtables on Haitian crisis
Santo Domingo.- The Economic and Social Council (CES) of the Dominican Republic confirmed that it will begin thematic roundtables on Monday, June 23, to address the Haitian crisis and its impact on the country. The inaugural session will take place at 2 p.m. at the University of the Caribbean (Unicaribe).
To encourage public participation, CES is also opening digital channels through the “OpinaRD” platform and the email address propuestasdialogo@ces.gob.do, allowing Dominicans at home and abroad to submit comments, proposals, and documents during the first 15 days of the dialogue.
Six key themes will guide the discussions: Migration, Bilateral Trade, Border Community Development, National Security, International Relations, and Labor Issues. Each panel will initially include 14 delegates—two from the government, two from each former president, and two from each ESC sector (social, labor, and business). Panels may later include additional experts, and each will be supported by a moderator and two rapporteurs. The discussions are set to last up to one month and will proceed concurrently.
