Armed men rob jewelry store in Bávaro

Bávaro.- A group of armed men assaulted a jewelry store in Bávaro, La Altagracia province, after briefly kidnapping an engineer and stealing both his money and vehicle. The incident began when the assailants entered a construction site, where they held the engineer at gunpoint, robbed him, and forced him into an SUV. Simultaneously, another suspect drove off with the engineer’s SUV, which was later used in the jewelry store robbery.

Shortly after the crime, a 9-1-1 emergency call led authorities to find the abandoned vehicle and engineer in a rural area. The victim showed no signs of physical harm and is now being questioned by officers from DICRIM and the Public Prosecutor’s Office.

In response, the National Police launched an extensive investigation, which includes reviewing surveillance footage, interviewing witnesses, and setting up alerts at toll booths and immigration posts. The exact amount of money stolen remains unknown, and authorities are expected to release more information as the case develops.
