Santo Domingo.- The Consumer Protection Institute (ProConsumidor) on Friday shuttered 54 pumps at 26 gas stations which cheated motorists across the country, from inspections conducted in recent months.
It didn’t specify however, whether it would bring the cheaters up on charges.
The agency said it metered the pumps in 47 gas stations in Greater Santo Domingo and the country’s southern region, where the closed businesses failed to comply with the tolerances stipulated in Law 166-12.
“ProConsumidor performs surprise operations at fuel stations in the country every week, to ensure that consumers receive the fuel they pay for,” said agency director Anina Del Castillo in a statement.
The stations shuttered figure affiliates of Texaco, Isla, Next, Esso, EcoPetroleo, Total, Nativa, Los Dos Hermanos, Sunix and Petronan, located in Villa Mella, Los Mina, Gazcue, Herrera, Haina, San Cristóbal and El Seibo.
