Abinader pledges efforts for 2025 Summit of the Americas success in Dominican Republic
Punta Cana.- President Luis Abinader has pledged intensive collaboration with regional governments and organizations to ensure the success of the 10th Summit of the Americas, set to take place in the Dominican Republic in late 2025. Speaking at the 30th-anniversary commemoration of the Summit of the Americas in Punta Cana, Abinader emphasized the importance of fostering international cooperation to address contemporary global challenges and strengthen regional mechanisms for security and sustainable development.
The event featured former U.S. President Bill Clinton, who initiated the first Summit of the Americas in 1994. Clinton stressed the need for unity and practical strategies to tackle global challenges, stating, “Denial is not a good strategy.” Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez highlighted the Dominican Republic’s commitment to democratic values, transparency, and anti-corruption efforts, underscoring the country’s readiness to host the milestone summit.
Discussions focused on creating consensus around key issues such as citizen, food, water, and health security. The Dominican Republic’s selection as host reflects its growing international leadership and the strategic foreign policy spearheaded by President Abinader and Foreign Minister Álvarez.
