Dominican Republic to open first aircraft maintenance center in 2026

Punta Cana.- In January 2026, the Dominican Republic will make a significant leap in developing its aeronautical industry with the opening of its first aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) center in Punta Cana. This US$50 million investment aims to create job opportunities and stimulate economic growth.
Frank Rainieri, leader of the Puntacana Group, emphasized that the new center will require over 300 Dominican engineers for aircraft maintenance and repairs. He stressed the project’s potential to diversify the country’s economy and create an aviation ecosystem similar to its success in tourism. The facility will also feature a logistics center and an academy for training pilots and flight attendants.
Rainieri highlighted the Puntacana Group’s positive impact on the tourism sector, creating over 20,000 jobs, including 4,000 direct jobs within the company. He expressed pride in this milestone, calling it a dream come true for the group’s ongoing commitment to sustainable development in the Dominican Republic.
