Manufacturing Activity surges from 56.6 in April to 58.9 in May
Santo Domingo.- The Industries Association’s (AIRD Monthly Manufacturing Activity Index (IMAM)) rose from 56.6 in April to 58.9 in May.
Of the index’s five variables, the two most prevalent posted an increase over the previous month.
The IMAM remains above the 50-point threshold, underscoring that the manufacturing sector’s conditions and economic prospects continue their upward trend.
The AIRD notes that the IMAM is presented with a seasonal adjustment in its five variables and as a general index, “which allows a more reliable approach when taking into account the recurrent and therefore predictable fluctuations that occur in a period within a year, which tend to affect the measurement of results.”
The sample totals 500 companies selected according to their economic importance, sector and geography. “The size of the same was determined according to the number of employees, taking into account the percentage of sales.”
