Urges to accelerate the use of electronic invoices

The first Business Round on Electronic Invoicing was held yesterday. Elieser Tapia

Santo Domingo – Over 288 million electronic tax invoices have been issued, and 915 taxpayers are electronic issuers.
As of May 15, 643 taxpayers, which are large companies, will be obliged to use electronic invoicing. However, only 194 taxpayers are already issuers of these invoices, and 294 are in the application process.

Yesterday, the Director General of Internal Taxes (DGII), Luis Valdez Veras, highlighted the benefits of these invoices and revealed that to date, more than 288 million electronic tax receipts have been issued, 915 taxpayers are electronic issuers, around 1,874 taxpayers are in the process of certification, 39 authorized electronic invoicing service providers, of which 25 providers are present at this meeting, and 334 taxpayers are free billers.

Valdez recalled that electronic invoicing is already a reality in the Dominican Republic. Its legal framework, Law No. 32-23, supports its obligatory nature, which will mean administrative improvements for companies, a contribution to the environment, greater fiscal validity, and transparency.

He offered this information when the DGII and the Chamber of Commerce and Production of Santo Domingo held the “First Business Round on Electronic Invoicing.”

At the event, Authorized Service Providers offered solutions and technological tools so that large national taxpayers could use this invoicing modality within the deadlines established by law.

The DGII’s Invoicing Manager, Patricia Gil, explained that Article 37 of Law number 32-23 established a gradual implementation schedule, which establishes a deadline for each taxpayer depending on their size.

She said that the first taxpayers are the large taxpayers who have until May 15, 2024, followed by the medium-sized taxpayers until May 15, 2025, and the rest before May 15, 2026.
