Medina leads politico pack with 45.6%: Gallup-Hoy poll

Santo Domingo.- President Danilo Medina figures at the stop spot in citizen preference with 45.6%, followed by former president Leonel Fernández at 20.8%; opposition party leader Luis Abinader scored 17.8% and former president Hipolito Mejia and vice president Margarita Cedeño tie at 16%.

The Gallup survey published by hoy.com.do also found that Medina is the most popular in the East region with 56%

Medina, who assumed the Presidency in August 2012, is one of the main leaders of the LDP, and at least until 2008, when he ran for the presidential nomination of his party, was considered one of the main partners of Fernandez.

If the other politicians aren’t included, the poll said, then opposition PRD president Vargas Maldonado obtains16.7%; Alianza Pais president Guillermo Moreno gets 15%, senator Amable Aristy has 9.9%, Senate president Reinaldo Pared has 5.5, PRSC party president Carlos Morales scored 5.3%, while Tourism minister Francisco J. Garcia, 5.1%.

The Gallup-Hoy poll conducted from September 6 to11 interviewed 1,200 eligible voters nationwide, with a 2.8% margin of error and a 95% level of confidence.
