Bahamian Foreign Minister Frederick Mitchell to visit Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo.- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MIREX) announced the official visit of Bahamian Foreign Minister Frederick Mitchell to the Dominican Republic from May 14 to 17. His agenda begins Thursday, May 15, with a meeting at MIREX alongside Dominican Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez to address bilateral issues.

This visit follows a 2023 Dominican delegation trip to the Bahamas led by President Luis Abinader. MIREX views Mitchell’s visit as a key opportunity to deepen economic cooperation between the two nations—especially in areas of mutual benefit—by identifying trade opportunities, encouraging business connections, and boosting the presence of Dominican products in the Bahamian market.

Minister Mitchell will also engage in private meetings with Dominican business leaders and producers before returning to the Bahamas on Saturday, May 17. MIREX highlighted that his visit marks the fourth by a foreign minister to the country this year, underscoring the Dominican Republic’s growing regional influence and reputation for democratic stability and institutional progress.
