Santo Domingo — The 2025 hurricane season officially begins in the North Atlantic, the Gulf of Mexico, and the Caribbean area on June 1 and will last until November 30.

For today, weather conditions in the country are expected to remain unchanged, according to the report from the National Institute of Meteorology (Indomet).

During the first hours, an opaque and grayish sky will be observed in most of the country due to the arrival of dust particles from the Sahara, which will reduce the likelihood of rain in most of the national territory.

However, Indomet warns that, in the late afternoon, isolated showers could be recorded in some localities of the northeast, southeast, and Central Cordillera regions, as well as in the provinces of Monte Cristi, Dajabón, Santiago Rodríguez, and Valverde, due to local effects and the flow of wind from the east/southeast.

High temperatures
Temperatures are expected to remain hot this Sunday, with an even higher thermal effect. Minimum temperatures will range between 21 °C and 23 °C, while maximum temperatures will be between 32 °C and 34 °C.

For this reason, the authorities recommend the population:

Drink plenty of water.
Wear light and light-colored clothing.
Look for cool and ventilated places.
Additionally, a special call is made to take care of children and the elderly, who are more susceptible to the effects of heat.

Forecast for Monday
For tomorrow, Monday, the entity forecasts that anticyclonic circulation and an increase in Saharan dust will continue to dominate the country.

These conditions will significantly limit the formation of clouds of significant vertical development, so an opaque, warm, sunny environment with slight cloudiness is expected throughout the national territory.
