Abinader launches new police patrol model to strengthen public security
Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader launched the New Police Service and Patrol Model, a pilot initiative aimed at strengthening citizen security, modernizing the National Police, and restoring public trust in law enforcement. The project, currently implemented in key sectors of Greater Santo Domingo—including Naco, the Colonial Zone, and Los Mina—introduces a data-driven, community-focused strategy that integrates more than 1,100 specially trained officers.
This new model represents a structural shift in police operations, combining strategic planning, advanced technology, and community outreach. Officers will use heat maps, real-time data analysis, and standardized patrol protocols to better address crime in high-risk areas. New features include dark blue uniforms with body cameras, visible ID tags, QR codes, and ergonomic designs to enhance officer performance and transparency.
Minister of the Interior and Police, Faride Raful, noted the Dominican Republic’s status as the safest country in the Caribbean, attributing it to consistent police reform and training. Under President Abinader’s direct oversight through the Joint Task Force, the program will be closely monitored to ensure continued effectiveness and responsiveness to public concerns.

Is there any fitness requirement? Why are the majority of Dominican Police officers have a huge belly popping out? Its embarrassing.
