Builders Association warns MIVED fee hike could harm housing sector
Santo Domingo.- The Santo Domingo Este Builders Association (Acosde) has raised concerns over significant fee increases imposed by the Ministry of Housing and Buildings (MIVED), warning that these changes could severely impact the construction sector.
Acosde notes that the fees for construction supervision have doubled, and a new 0.1% charge on project contract values for plan processing contradicts Constitutional Court rulings TC/0067/13 and TC/0339/14. Riubell Montes de Oca, president of the association, stressed that the added costs would drive up housing prices, hinder investment, and worsen the existing housing deficit of 1.4 million homes.
Montes de Oca also criticized the lack of consultation behind MIVED’s decision and urged authorities to open dialogue with industry leaders to find balanced, lawful solutions that support both public policy goals and sector sustainability.

They will pay it, pass it.
