Dominican Republic leads preparations for 10th Summit of the Americas in Punta Cana

Antigua and Barbuda.- Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez chaired the first ministerial meeting of the Summit Implementation Review Group (SIRG) in Antigua and Barbuda, marking a key step in preparations for the 10th Summit of the Americas, which the Dominican Republic will host on December 5, 2025, in Punta Cana.

Held alongside the 55th OAS General Assembly in St. John’s, the meeting gave the Dominican Republic an opportunity to update member states on its planning progress and to announce three key sectoral forums that will precede the summit: the Civil Society Forum, the Youth Forum, and the Business Forum.

Minister Álvarez emphasized that the Summit will focus on four core pillars of human security—citizen security, food security, energy security, and water security—reflecting the region’s most pressing structural challenges. He noted that safeguarding these aspects is essential to advancing effective governance, democratic legitimacy, and inclusive development.

The Summit’s theme, “Building a Secure, Sustainable Hemisphere of Shared Prosperity,” underscores the belief that long-term progress depends on collective well-being. “The road to Punta Cana is exciting not only because of its beautiful beaches,” said Álvarez, “but because it gives us a chance to create a shared agenda for hemispheric security and prosperity.”
