Santo Domingo Book Fair returns September 25 to Plaza de la Cultura
Santo Domingo.- The Ministry of Culture announced the 27th Santo Domingo International Book Fair (FILSD 2025), to be held from September 25 to October 5 at the Juan Pablo Duarte Cultural Plaza. This year’s edition will honor renowned historian Frank Moya Pons and place special emphasis on children’s and young adult literature to encourage reading among new generations. The event will also feature the Network of Literary Fairs and Festivals of Latin America as guest of honor, promoting cultural exchange with distinguished writers and publishers.
Building on its 2023 country brand certification, the fair continues to grow as a platform for international cultural projection. In 2024, it drew more than 600,000 visitors, generated over RD$75 million in book sales, and hosted participants from 19 countries. For 2025, the program includes over 600 activities, among them book presentations, conferences, workshops, colloquia, recitals, and artistic performances. New additions include a Business Room to support Dominican authors’ internationalization and the Multiplicando Letras program, which will bring cultural leaders from across the provinces.
The fair will feature 15 themed pavilions, three conference rooms, two auditoriums, and 123 exhibition spaces, with a strong presence from major international publishing houses such as Grupo Planeta, Grupo Anaya, and Fondo de Cultura Económica. The Ministry also confirmed the return of the Bonolibro program, which distributed 21,000 free books last year, and announced that the National Film Library will host screenings of Dominican and international films.
