Dominican Republic commemorates 186th Anniversary of Gregorio Luperón’s birth in Puerto Plata

Puerto Plata.- The Presidency of the Republic, through the Permanent Commission on National Anniversaries, held a ceremony in Puerto Plata on Monday to commemorate the 186th anniversary of the birth of General Gregorio Luperón, hero of the Restoration War. The event included the raising of the National Flag, a religious invocation, military honors, a 15-gun salute, and floral offerings from various institutions.

The commission also presented the Commemorative Medal of the 180th Anniversary of María Trinidad Sánchez’s heroism to the General Gregorio Luperón House Museum. The ceremony featured a historical review by Colonel Sócrates Suazo Ruiz, followed by words of thanks from museum director Rosa García Crespo, and concluded with a civic parade involving hundreds of local students.
