Indomet monitors tropical wave with potential cyclone development
Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) is monitoring a tropical wave over the Atlantic that is producing scattered rainfall and disorganized thunderstorms. The system has a 30% chance of developing into a cyclone in the next 48 hours, increasing to 80% over seven days, prompting authorities to advise the public to stay alert to updates.
Indomet forecasts scattered showers for Monday afternoon and evening due to the tropical wave and an associated trough, with short morning showers possible in some northeastern and southwestern towns. The provinces expected to experience the heaviest rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds include Hato Mayor, Sánchez Ramírez, San Cristóbal, Greater Santo Domingo, Monseñor Nouel, San Juan, Elías Piña, Montecristi, Monte Plata, Santiago, Santiago Rodríguez, Valverde, and Dajabón.
