Collado orders immediate renovation of the Puerto Plata amphitheater

Puerto Plata—Atahualpa Paulino, regional director of Tourism for the Northern Zone, reported that they are conducting a technical survey to intervene in the Puerto Plata Amphitheater immediately.

He stated that the lifting was carried out together with the Ceiztur team, the president of the Amphitheater Board of Trustees, and the mayor of Puerto Plata, Diomedes Roque García, responding to a direct order from the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, to recover the space so crucial for the culture and tourism of the province.

“Efforts are already underway to restore Puerto Plata to an amphitheater worthy of its history and its people. We remain committed to the development, identity, and future of the Bride of the Atlantic!” he added in a post on social media.

The authorities’ visit is due to recent reports of an advanced state of deterioration at the amphitheater, which is directly attributed to the lack of a preventive and corrective maintenance program since, apparently, 2020.
