Government invests RD$10M in Puerto Plata public spaces

Puerto Plata.- Minister of the Presidency José Ignacio Paliza has secured RD$10 million to launch the long-awaited restoration of the Puerto Plata Amphitheater and Puntilla Park, two iconic public spaces on the Dominican Republic’s Atlantic coast in urgent need of revitalization. An additional RD$8.4 million has been allocated for the first six months of maintenance.

The project, initiated by local volunteers, aims to return these spaces to the public in safe and optimal conditions, with upgrades to infrastructure, lighting, landscaping, accessibility, and security. The goal is to restore their cultural, social, and tourism value, making them once again central hubs for community gatherings and events.

Renovation work has already begun, led by a multisectoral group of civil society volunteers, with visible improvements expected in the coming weeks.
