US Army helicopters flew over Puerto Plata; reasons unknown

PUERTO PLATA: Several helicopters of the type known as Black Hawk belonging to the United States Army were spotted on Friday afternoon flying over the coastal airspace of Puerto Plata.

This event piqued the curiosity of many residents of the “Bride of the Atlantic.”

These Sikorsky UH-60 and HH-60 Black Hawk helicopters were seen flying at low altitude as they crossed over the Playa Dorada tourist complex in this city.

Tourists staying in hotels from Playa Dorada to the Maimón district in Puerto Plata joined the large number of families living in this municipality who admired and showed curiosity about the flights made by the pilots of these American military helicopters.

So far, the reason for these maneuvers is unknown, and it is unclear whether the relevant official agencies authorized the low-altitude flights over the province.

These aircraft, known for their use in tactical operations, rescue, and US military transport, flew in formation at low altitude over this northern coastal destination.

So far, no official information has been provided on the reason for these surprising flights by US helicopters. However, on previous occasions, aircraft from the US have carried out training or transit flights coordinated with the national authorities.
