Joint operation reinforces security in El Batey de Sosúa
Saturday, November 8, 2025 | Sosúa, Puerto Plata. A large-scale operation was deployed Friday night in the El Batey sector of the municipality of Sosúa, with the coordinated participation of the Special Community Prosecutor’s Office, the National Police, and the Specialized Directorate for Tourist Assistance (POLITUR).
The preventive day, led by prosecutor Hilda Patricia Lagombra Polanco, was attended by Colonel Alcántara, the police commander of the municipality, and Major Díaz, the operational head of POLITUR.
The security operation included simultaneous patrols, vehicle checks, individual screening, and inspections of commercial establishments. During the operation, more than a dozen people were detained for investigative purposes, in accordance with protocols established by the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
Sources from the judicial body reported that the action is part of a joint work plan between the Puerto Plata Prosecutor’s Office, led by Magistrate Kelmi Duncan, and the security forces, focused on guaranteeing order and tranquility in high-traffic tourist areas.
Attorney Lagombra Polanco emphasized that the interventions aim to bring authorities closer to the community, strengthening citizen trust and promoting peaceful coexistence.
“Our goal is to maintain a safe Sosúa for everyone, where residents, workers and visitors can enjoy an orderly and protected environment,” the official said.
Authorities announced that these preventive actions will continue periodically as part of a strategy of permanent presence by the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the National Police in sensitive areas of the north coast.
