Juan Soto exits game after foot injury
San Diego.- Outfielder Juan Soto left Tuesday’s game between the New York Mets and the San Diego Padres after fouling a ball off his left foot during the fourth inning. He collapsed in pain and briefly remained in the game before exiting due to continued discomfort. X-rays came back negative, and he was diagnosed with a foot contusion.
Soto expressed optimism about his recovery, noting that the swelling needs to subside before he can return. Mets officials echoed his confidence, stating that there is no fracture and listing him as day-to-day.
Manager Carlos Mendoza confirmed the team will monitor Soto’s condition closely. With stars like Francisco Lindor and Pete Alonso struggling offensively, losing Soto—who has 25 home runs and a .248/.382/.488 slash line—would be a major setback for the Mets.
