Leonardo Wehe named Entrepreneur of the Year 2025 for advancing tourism in Cabarete

Santo Domingo.- Businessman Leonardo Wehe was honored as Entrepreneur of the Year 2025 during the National Tourism Awards in recognition of his major contributions to the cultural and tourism development of the Dominican Republic’s north coast, particularly in Cabarete, where his company Cabarete Tango drives innovative projects promoting “a new North.”

The award, presented by Luis Severino, president of the National Tourism Awards, took place at the Catalonia Hotel in Santo Domingo. Organizers praised Wehe’s role in diversifying tourism in the northern region and his commitment to economic growth and cultural revitalization.

Of Dominican-Argentine descent, Wehe is leading a wave of transformative projects, including Eden Cabarete and Icon Cabarete—luxury oceanfront condominiums designed by renowned architects—along with the Cabarete Country Club revival, Hotel Villa Taina’s modernization, and the relaunch of the Cabarete Jazz Festival 2025. He also opened Mi Bodegón, Cabarete’s first Argentine restaurant. Collectively, his ventures have created over 200 direct jobs, revitalizing the local economy and attracting high-end tourism.

Wehe expressed his vision during the ceremony, stating that Cabarete must “compete at the top” by offering high-value, boutique, and luxury tourism experiences, reaffirming his goal to position the destination as the true alternative tourist hub of the Dominican Republic.
