Abinader awards Frank Rainieri the Order of Merit for his impact on Dominican tourism

Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader presented businessman and ambassador Frank Rainieri Marranzini with the Order of Merit of Duarte, Sánchez y Mella in the Grand Cross Silver Plate on Wednesday, in recognition of his more than five decades dedicated to advancing tourism and promoting humanitarian causes in the Dominican Republic. The award ceremony took place in Santo Domingo.

Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez highlighted Rainieri’s leadership and vision in transforming Punta Cana into a world-class destination, including spearheading the creation of Punta Cana International Airport, a cornerstone of the country’s tourism growth. “Few people have managed, like Frank Rainieri, to turn a development idea into tangible infrastructure, decent employment, and international prestige for the Dominican Republic,” Álvarez stated.

The recognition, established through Decree 489-25, also honors Rainieri’s diplomatic work as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Order of Malta, through which he strengthened cooperation in health, humanitarian aid, and social action. In his acceptance speech, Rainieri expressed gratitude, saying the award reaffirms a lifetime of service and purpose. “True dignity is not measured by what one has, but by what one is capable of giving,” he reflected.
