Five Dominican players named finalists for 2025 American League Silver Slugger Award

Five Dominican stars—Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Junior Caminero, Julio Rodríguez, Jorge Polanco, and Jéremy Peña—are among the finalists for the 2025 American League Silver Slugger Award, which honors the best offensive players at each position in Major League Baseball.

Junior Caminero, third baseman for the Tampa Bay Rays, had a breakout season with 45 home runs, 110 RBIs, and a .264 batting average, ranking him among the league’s most powerful hitters. Vladimir Guerrero Jr., first baseman for the Toronto Blue Jays, added 23 home runs, 84 RBIs, and a .292 average, providing consistent offensive production.

Julio Rodríguez, center fielder for the Seattle Mariners, achieved a rare 30-30 season with 30 home runs, 30 stolen bases, 95 RBIs, and a .267 average, while his teammate Jorge Polanco, second baseman, contributed 26 home runs, 78 RBIs, and a .265 average, strengthening Seattle’s infield offense.

Houston Astros shortstop Jéremy Peña capped an impressive campaign with a .304 batting average, 17 home runs, and 62 RBIs, demonstrating both consistency and maturity at the plate.

The Silver Slugger Award is voted on by MLB managers and coaches, and the winners will be announced in the coming weeks, highlighting the league’s top hitters at each position.
