“Vivir para siempre” pays tribute to merengue legends
Santo Domingo.- The vibrant spirit of merengue returns with the release of “Vivir para siempre,” a new song that honors the great merengue icons who have passed away and celebrates the genre’s enduring role as a symbol of Dominican identity.
Created by filmmaker Jalsen Santana and conceived by Charlie Núñez, the audiovisual piece blends emotion, creativity, and high visual quality, offering a heartfelt tribute to the legacy of merengue. The production features an all-star lineup, including Sergio Vargas, Maridalia Hernández, Ramón Orlando, Jandy Ventura, Los Hermanos Rosario, Conjunto Quisqueya, The New York Band, Kinito Méndez, and other celebrated artists who unite their voices to honor the genre’s pioneers.
With music and arrangement by Mario Díaz, Charlie Núñez, and Herodys Ureña, “Vivir para siempre” fuses classic and contemporary elements, reaffirming merengue’s timeless appeal and cultural importance as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The project serves as both a tribute and a reminder of merengue’s lasting power to connect generations through rhythm and passion.
