Dominican music legend Juan Luis Guerra and British icon Sting have released a new version of Guerra’s timeless hit “Estrellitas y Duendes”, accompanied by an official video now available on all digital platforms.
Originally featured on the 1990 album Bachata Rosa, the song remains one of Latin music’s most cherished classics. According to Guerra’s team, this new rendition—launched 35 years later—fuses Guerra’s poetic Caribbean sound with Sting’s distinctive artistry, creating a deeply emotional reinterpretation.
In a remarkable twist, Sting performs entirely in Spanish, delivering what Guerra described as a heartfelt and luminous performance. “Working with Sting has been an immense honor,” Guerra said. “Hearing him sing one of my songs in Spanish is a great gift.” Sting, for his part, praised the Dominican artist’s songwriting, calling it “elegant and profound.”
The music video, filmed at Power Station Studios in New York and directed by Guerra Films, highlights the genuine connection between the two musicians during an intimate studio session filled with creativity and mutual admiration. With a combined total of over 50 Grammy Awards, the collaboration unites two of the most celebrated figures in contemporary music, blending decades of excellence and innovation.
